I don't claim to be a professional, and all advice given is by personal experience. We are all learning here, and no one has all the answers. Once again, I am not a doctor, so my advice is not professional.
I always did a bunch of supersets and drop sets the last 2 weeks before a show. kept me pumped and full with little chance for injury.

Nothing gets the veins in the arms going like DB hammer curls
for shoulders, I get a crazy pump by doing one of the following supersets:
DB Presses supersetted with Real Lateral Raises
or
Lateral Raises supersetted with Upright rows
This is especially fun when you get really lean during the last 4 weeks before competition. You'll have so many sick veins and everyone will look at you like youre a FREAK!!! Gotta love it
Pull-ups super-set with push-ups right before hitting the stage. 2 weeks out I stick with moderate weight lots of volume to flood the muscles with blood.

Listen to your body, if it's hungry...feed it, if it's tired...rest it....train hard.....in iron.
