What are some of post workout drinks/foods which are the most beneficial for lean recovery?
My personal favorite, which has treated me the best to date is 8oz of chicken breast and a couple baked red potatoes. I would sometimes add one scoop whey with that meal, just for the fast absorbing protein, but recently cut all shakes.

Directly after workout
60g Whey
60g Waxy Maize Starch
With in 1 hour of shake
9oz of lean meat
60g of carbs worth of tuber(sweet or red potato)
I had good results with 2 scoops ON whey (48g protein) and 2 scoops waxymaize (60g carbs). Sometimes I blend 1 cup oatmeal instead of waxymaize, and other times I eat 5-6 dates instead as well.
I like a pre/post workout formula of 40g WPI and 40g Waxy maize starch in about 400ml water. This goes a long way to saturating the blood with all the nutrients required for energy and recovery. It also helps to hydrate the muscle quite well and as such facilitate a fantastic pump.
Give this mix a try pre and post workout, I think you will like it.
This should be followed by a whole food meal of something like chicken and rice to help stabilize blood glocose levels. Workout nutrition is very important if you want to get the most out of your training and as long as you are getting enough calories across the rest of the day there is no reason you shouldn't be growing.

Seems that everyone likes the Waxy Maize...
Im doing:
Isopure (50grams)
Waximaize (40grams)
L-Glutamine (5 grams)
Alpha Lipoic Acid (100mg)
Vandyl Sulfate (10mg)
I was using Aftershock there for awhile but am now back to old school Whey/Dex
I have heard alot about Waxy Maize and it works great for some people.
